The short version: FeelLens is local-first. Everything you log stays on your device. We have no account system and no server that receives your entries. The one exception is the optional AI weekly summary, which is off by default — only if you turn it on does FeelLens send a short list of aggregate weekly counts (never your notes, tags, times, or individual entries) to OpenAI to generate the wording. We never sell or share your data.
FeelLens helps you notice how you feel and what tends to help over time. We designed it to be private by default. This policy explains, in plain language, what happens to your data.
Everything you enter — the feeling, intensity, time, optional notes, tags, actions, and any follow-up outcome — is saved in a local database on your device. Your app preferences (theme, language, reminder settings) are stored the same way. None of this leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to send it.
We never trigger any of these automatically.
FeelLens can write a short, plain-language summary of your past week. This feature is off by default. When it is off, the summary is generated entirely on your device and nothing leaves it.
The feature only activates after you give explicit permission: when you switch it on in Settings, the app shows a consent prompt that states what will be sent and to whom, and nothing is sent unless you tap Allow. You can withdraw consent at any time by switching the feature off.
If you allow it, FeelLens sends a small set of aggregate counts from your last 7 days to OpenAI (model gpt-4o-mini) via its API, which generates the wording. Requests are relayed through a FeelLens-operated proxy that attaches the API credential and forwards only those counts. What is sent is limited to: how many states you logged and on how many days; which built-in state you logged most and how often; an action label you typed and how often the state improved after it; which two states you logged on the same day; whether poor sleep, a skipped meal, or high stress was noted; and how many followed-up states improved.
What is never sent: your notes, tags, the text of entries, dates and times, individual entries, and your name, account, email, or device identifiers. We do not sell or share this data. You can see exactly what is sent, and turn the feature off, in Settings ▸ AI summary ▸ "What gets sent."
OpenAI processes this data as a service provider under its API terms, which provide protections for your data that are the same as or equal to this policy: API data is not used to train OpenAI's models, is retained only for a limited abuse-monitoring period, and is not sold or shared. For details, see OpenAI's API data-usage commitments at openai.com/policies/api-data-usage-policies and its privacy policy at openai.com/policies/privacy-policy.
If you use "Sync now" on iOS, a copy of your entries is written to your private iCloud container so your own devices can stay in sync. This data is stored in your personal iCloud account under Apple's terms; we operate no sync server and cannot read it. Sync only runs when you tap it.
If you enable the Health toggle, FeelLens reads last night's sleep duration (read-only) from Apple Health / Health Connect to pre-fill the coarse sleep level on a new entry. This value is processed on your device only. Health data is never written back, never included in the AI summary request, never used for advertising, and never shared with any third party.
Payments for FeelLens Premium are processed by Apple (App Store). To check whether your subscription is active, the app uses RevenueCat, a subscription-management service. RevenueCat receives a random, app-generated identifier and App Store receipt information — never your entries, notes, health data, name, or email. RevenueCat processes this data as our service provider with protections equal to this policy and does not sell it; see revenuecat.com/privacy.
FeelLens includes an optional diagnostics setting to help us find and fix crashes. It is turned off by default. If you turn it on, only technical error information may be collected — never your entries, notes, or any health-related content. You can turn it off again at any time in Settings.
If you enable reminders or follow-up prompts, they are scheduled locally on your device. They are not sent from a server and contain no personal content.
You are always in control. You can delete any single entry, or use "Delete all data" in Settings to permanently remove every entry from your device. Uninstalling the app also removes its local data.
FeelLens is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from them.
FeelLens helps you notice patterns in your lived experience. It is not a medical device, does not provide diagnosis or treatment, and is not a substitute for professional care.
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and the version bundled in the app.
